Custom Enclosures for Medical Carts and Workstations

ZRD develops and manufactures custom housings for mobile medical carts, bedside workstations and equipment trolleys. We coordinate the enclosure with the frame, display, controls, battery or electronics, cable routing, service access and the way the equipment is moved and used.

edical Cart and Workstation Applications

A mobile enclosure has to work with the frame, wheels, handles, displays and internal equipment at the same time. We review each housing around the actual workflow and interface requirements.

Mobile Diagnostic Carts

Custom housings for diagnostic systems that need a stable equipment platform, visible display, controlled openings and protected electronics while moving between locations.

Panel sets and equipment housings for bedside workstations with monitor arms, keyboard or control areas, power modules and serviceable internal compartments.

Bedside Workstations

Panel sets and equipment housings for bedside workstations with monitor arms, keyboard or control areas, power modules and serviceable internal compartments.

Treatment and Therapy Carts

Mobile equipment shells for treatment, therapy or rehabilitation systems that require coordinated covers, controls, functional openings and a consistent finished appearance.

Eye and Vision Equipment Trolleys

Vertical housings developed around optical or vision equipment, displays, internal supports, handles and the movement requirements of a trolley format.

Enclosures for mobile monitoring and measurement equipment with sensor interfaces, displays, battery or electronics compartments and planned cable routing.

Mobile Monitoring Equipment

Enclosures for mobile monitoring and measurement equipment with sensor interfaces, displays, battery or electronics compartments and planned cable routing.

Custom Clinical Workstations

Integrated exterior panels for clinical workstations and equipment supports when the enclosure, frame, accessories and user-facing surfaces need one coordinated design.

MATERIALS & MANUFACTURING ROUTES

Choosing a Manufacturing Route for a Medical Cart Housing

The route depends on the cart size, panel geometry, quantity, design maturity, visible finish and the internal structure that the housing must fit. Final feasibility and quotation require drawing review.

PROTOTYPE ROUTE

CNC Plastic Prototype

Useful for checking the overall cart appearance, display and control openings, frame fit, panel breaks and service access while the design is still changing.

Rapid Prototyping ↗
Vacuum formed panel set for medical equipment enclosure
FORMED PANEL ROUTE

Vacuum-Formed Panel Sets

May be evaluated for larger curved or formed panels and low-to-medium volume projects where panel size and tooling investment need to be balanced.

Vacuum Forming ↗
Injection molded enclosure component for equipment
PRODUCTION ROUTE

Injection-Molded Components

May be evaluated for stable, repeat-production components when geometry, visible surfaces, quantity and tooling assumptions have been approved.

Tooling and Injection Molding ↗

COMBINED ROUTE

Mixed Enclosure and Frame System

A complete cart may combine formed or molded panels, CNC-trimmed openings, metal frame elements, inserts, hardware, finishing and agreed assembly.

CNC Trimming and Precision Machining ↗
MATERIAL SELECTION

Material selection should consider stiffness, weight, panel size, processing method, visible finish, operating environment and the customer's cleaning or chemical exposure requirements. A material should not be presented as suitable for every cart or workstation application without project-specific review.

Medical Cart Enclosures FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Medical Cart Enclosures

FAQ
− What types of medical carts and workstations can you support?
Answer: We can review mobile diagnostic carts, bedside workstations, treatment or therapy carts, eye and vision equipment trolleys, mobile monitoring equipment and other custom clinical workstations.
+ Can you design the enclosure around our existing metal frame?
Answer: Yes. Provide accurate frame data, mounting points, brackets, component envelopes and any approved samples or fixtures. The enclosure can then be reviewed around the actual supporting structure.
+ Can you manufacture only the plastic panels?
Answer: The supply scope can be evaluated as panels only or as a broader enclosure package. Confirm whether you need forming or molding, CNC trimming, finishing, hardware fitting, assembly or inspection documents.
+ Can you include display, connector and cable openings?
Answer: Yes. Display bezels, control openings, connectors, power inlets, cable exits, vents and mounting holes can be included in the drawing and CNC trimming review.
+ How do you plan access to batteries and internal electronics?
Answer: The design should identify the components requiring replacement or service, removal direction, fasteners, doors or covers and the available clearance. These requirements are reviewed during the enclosure and frame discussion.
+ Can you match the finish across several cart panels?
Answer: Color, texture, gloss, printing and panel alignment can be evaluated against customer specifications, color references or approved samples. Acceptance criteria should be agreed before production.
+ Which process is suitable for a large mobile cart housing?
Answer: CNC prototyping, vacuum forming or a mixed-process construction may be evaluated depending on panel size, geometry, quantity, appearance requirements and design maturity.
+ Can you help validate the prototype before production tooling?
Answer: Yes. Prototype samples can be used to check frame fit, display position, access panels, cable routing, accessory clearance and assembly sequence before a repeat-production route is approved.
+ Can you manufacture the wheels, frame or medical accessories?
Answer: This page focuses on the enclosure and agreed related components. The project scope should clearly identify which frame, hardware, accessories and assembly operations are supplied by ZRD or by the customer.
+ Can you guarantee a specific load, impact or cleaning performance?
Answer: Performance depends on the complete cart design, material, structure, wheels, hardware, cleaning agent and test conditions. Requirements must be specified and validated for the complete equipment system; they should not be assumed from the enclosure alone.
+ What inspection documents can be provided?
Answer: Depending on the agreed scope, available documents may include dimensional inspection records, material documentation, first-article records and final inspection records. List required documents in the quotation request.
+ What should we send for an initial review?
Answer: Send the cart or workstation layout, frame data, enclosure dimensions, 3D and 2D files, expected quantities, project stage, finish requirements and any display, battery, cable or service-access information.
